 About Us

The Burke Institute for Innovation in Education

Established in 2002, the James Burke Institute for Innovation in Education researches, develops, and encourages innovative uses of educational technology. Founded by James Burke, best-selling author and host of television’s Connections series, the Burke Institute is supported by scores of volunteers worldwide, most of whom are working on the Knowledge Web project. The Burke Institute is a 501(c)(3) California public benefit corporation based in San Jose, California.

The Institute’s flagship project is the Knowledge Web, an interactive tool for understanding and inspiring the creation of ideas.

More About the Team

A team of dedicated volunteers

The Burke Institute is currently led and the Knowledge Web is being developed entirely by volunteers. A board of directors and a technical advisory board set the direction for both the Institute and the project, and a multiskilled team is hard at work making the Knowledge Web a reality.
